Equalising opportunities for pupils in the Czech educational system through the work of social pedagogues, social workers and other street-level bureaucrats.
Halaštová, Eliška ; Pýchová, Silvie (advisor) ; Kohoutek, Jan (referee)
This thesis discusses the possibilities of support for socially disadvantaged pupils in Czech primary schools by street-level bureaucrats in order to equalise their educational opportunities. Using a questionnaire survey, the thesis searches answers to the questions of what the support of disadvantaged pupils in Czech schools looks like, what organisational placement of street-level bureaucrats within the system can be effective for such support, and what support is appropriate for street-level bureaucrats themselves to perform their role well. The sub-results of the thesis are then claims that social pedagogues and social workers in schools, as well as social and other service workers outside schools, perceive support for disadvantaged pupils as part of their work and strive for it. A model of support inside and outside schools and effective collaboration between these actors therefore appears ideal. The fulfilment of the common goal of street-level bureauctrats is often hampered by inadequate working conditions, which should be systematically improved in order to improve the quality of line workers' work.

Specifics of social service NZDM in children under 15 years.
BÍLÝ, Tomáš
The aim of my thesis was to define and describe the particularities and interdisciplinary connections of the social service of low-threshold facilities for children and youth (hereinafter NZDM) as well as evaluate their significance when working with children and youth at the low-threshold level. NZDM is a rather new social service operating in social prevention area. Since being incorporated into the social services´ system in compliance with Act No.108/2006 Coll. which has clearly specified the character and activities of NZDM service, it has been facing misunderstanding and questioning of its role and content both from the professionals and lay people. This regards namely the pedagogical aspect of the service as such, there has been an effort to reduce it, which hinders the NZDM workers´ activity and brings existential and financial insecurity. In contrast to other social services, NZDM service must therefore defend its position in the social services´ system and argue for its substance and sense. This paper also aims at this line of reasoning. The thesis is divided into four chapters where essential characteristics of the service are first presented as well as its roots and important milestones in its development including the insight into the multi-layered quality and particularities of NZDM. The second chapter covers the area of developmental psychology, or more precisely the target group of NZDM in the context of chosen developmental characteristics. The third chapter presents interdisciplinary connections in pedagogy, thus giving evidence of the significance of upbringing and education in NZDM. In the closing part of the paper, there is an attempt of the author to reflect the rigours and paradoxes in this environment, to defend the role of free-time activities and to draw attention to the risks related to narrowed and reduced approach to NZDM service.

Comparison of the Concept of Contemporary Social Pedagogy in Anglophone and Post-Totalitarian Countries Based on the Example of Russia and Great Britain
Nigmatova, Maria ; Bendl, Stanislav (advisor) ; Syřiště, Ivo (referee)
v anglickém jazyce This work solves the technical problem associated with the concept of social pedagogy at present. Over the last decade, anglophone countries have begun to show interest in social pedagogy as perceived in Europe - i.e., in its broad conception. This is proved by the fact that in the framework of international cooperation of scientists, academics and other researchers in the field of social pedagogy, translations and other books about social pedagogy appear more and more frequently. In these sources we can find the information that in the Anglo-Saxon tradition social pedagogy is associated primarily with children and youth and does not include other age categories. However, the authors argue that social pedagogy in its broader concept has great potential for solving social problems. Therefore, scientists strive to implement social pedagogy in the context of social work, which has a rich tradition in Anglophone countries. The aim of the work is to find, analyze and compare relevant resources related to the concept of social pedagogy in the UK and Russia. For the practical part were selected such sources as: textbooks for universities, study materials and university studying plans. In these university studying plans social pedagogy is presented as a separate specialization. These...
